How You Will Make a Difference
In this role, located in the New York Metro Area, you will have the opportunity to secure the essential funds that power our work while collaborating with an international team of fundraisers who believe change is possible. You will serve as a relationship builder for GFI with current donors and prospects, connecting their vision for impact with GFI’s mission for a world where alternative proteins are no longer alternative.
The Philanthropy Officer (Northeast) will be responsible for:
* Building and maintaining strong, meaningful, long-term relationships with 100-125 major gift prospects and donors primarily in Northern California, including identifying prospects, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding of gifts between $25,000 and $1,000,000+.
* Developing and executing creative and innovative strategies to identify prospects and expand your portfolio, contributing to our fundraising growth.
* Working collaboratively as part of a team of philanthropy officers, contributing to our shared success.
* Partnering closely with program staff and senior leadership to develop and coordinate donor strategies, write donor proposals and updates/impact reports, and organize meetings with donors.
* Preparing and executing excellent donor engagement and moves management plans for all donors and prospects in your portfolio and meeting monthly performance metrics.
* Maintaining comprehensive donor records in our CRM (Salesforce), complying with our donor privacy policies, and utilizing provided tools to report out on progress.
* Develop and maintain a deep understanding of GFI's theory of change and programmatic work in order to effectively communicate our theory of change and mission-impactful work.
* Performing other duties as assigned.
Who We’re Looking For
The Philanthropy Officer (Northeast) must have:
* A proven track record of cultivating and stewarding relationships with individuals and families with major and principal giving potential.
* A strong background navigating the ‘art and science’ of donor engagement towards securing major gifts that advance GFI’s mission while helping the donor achieve his or her philanthropic goals.
* A minimum of five years of previous development experience, including two years in a major or principal gifts officer capacity.
* A willingness to travel throughout California including occasional evening and weekend work.
* Able to manage a non-traditional schedule as needed between travel and accommodating meetings with international colleagues.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Self starter with the capacity to work independently and effectively while meeting deadlines.
* Comfort working remotely.
* Experience with a CRM database. We use Salesforce.

The Fine Print
* Terms of employment: Full-time, exempt
* Reports to: Evelina Erickson, Director of U.S. Philanthropy
* Location: Remote work, residing in the New York metro area; United States
* Travel: A willingness to travel extensively throughout the Eastern U.S., with a particular focus on the Northeast and New York metro area, and with some evening and weekend work (several times a month). Two or three times annually, additional travel within the U.S. for 3-4 days each trip to the Development Team or GFI all staff retreats.

* This is a U.S.-based position: In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

* Salary: $116,000-$124,000, depending on experience
