About the Role
Remote in Brazil, Mexico, Canada or the United States
We currently seek a vice president of global people operations and culture to join our operations team. In this role, you will develop and oversee Mercy For Animals’ global people operations and DEIJ (diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice) strategy, policies, procedures, and programs, as well as guide regional people operations and DEIJ teams.
You will do invaluable work:
* Partner with regional people operations teams and the senior leadership team to develop Mercy For Animals’ global objectives for talent acquisition; talent development; and team compensation, benefits, and relations in alignment with Mercy For Animals’ global and regional strategic plans
* Support the development, execution, and management of DEIJ initiatives in support of Mercy For Animals’ global strategic plan, including leadership of global and regional committees and communities
* Foster an intentional global culture based on Mercy For Animals’ core values, leadership principles, and ongoing commitment to a work environment that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and just, taking into account the cultural aspects of each region and language justice
* Seek out new best practices and innovative solutions to elevate the ways we attract, develop, and retain team members
* Act as a liaison between hiring managers and global employers of record in some international hiring processes
* Recruit for multiregional positions
* Offer thought leadership regarding people-related and DEIJ strategy
* Partner with regional people operations teams and the finance team on the development and management of the global people operations and DEIJ budget
* Oversee, guide, and mentor a team of direct reports to successfully implement global people operations objectives and diversity, equity, and inclusion objectives
* Ensure the global organization’s compliance with employment laws for each region in partnership with regional people operations and legal affairs teams
* Partner with the deputy general counsel on sensitive or confidential team member relations issues, such as complaints, disciplinary actions, and separations, as necessary
* Regularly collect, analyze, and review internal global people operations and DEIJ metrics and trends and discuss them with the senior leadership team, making recommendations and implementing improvements as necessary
* Conduct research on people operations and external DEIJ trends, best practices, and technologies and recommend new or changes to existing policies, programs, initiatives, and practices
* Lead global and regional compensation and benefits structures
* Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures
* Perform any other duties assigned by the senior vice president of global operations
Your qualifications will take our operations team to the next level:
* Minimum of ten years’ work experience in human resources and DEIJ
* Minimum of five years’ experience in a leadership role at a global organization
* Bachelor’s degree in human resources, psychology, or a related field or an additional three years of work experience in human resources (master’s degree preferred)
* Demonstrated understanding of strategic work in human resources, including talent development, talent acquisition, DEIJ, employee relations, employee engagement, compliance, and compensation
* PHR or SHRM-CP certification in the United States (or equivalent in Mexico or Brazil) or willingness to participate in advanced human resources training in first year of employment
* Strong understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice principles and experience leading DEIJ initiatives
* Proven experience in developing and accomplishing organizational strategic and budget objectives
* Strong spoken and written communication skills that can be applied to a remote workplace
* Excellent interpersonal, persuasion, negotiation, and conflict-management skills, particularly in a multicultural environment
* Strong research and analytical skills
* Good judgment and problem-solving skills
* Proven leadership skills, including the ability to build and maintain high-performing teams
* Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to delegate in ways that upskill team members and promote career development
* Ability to travel up to three times per year for conferences and retreats
