About the Role

A core part of FWI’s theory of change is enabling farmers in India to make improvements that meaningfully improve the lives of fishes. In alignment with this goal, we are seeking a Welfare Standard Lead/Manager to (i) expand the capacity of our Welfare Standard Department, and (ii) to lead its team in setting more impactful and implementable fish welfare standards.

This role is suited for someone with experience running in-field tests and who can help with or lead building and growing a department. The work here will be interdisciplinary, challenging, and largely unprecedented—and we think that for the right candidate, the opportunity to improve the magnitude of all of FWI’s impact will be extremely rewarding.

The successful candidate will be designated as either Welfare Standard Lead or Welfare Standard Manager, based on their prior experience and current ability to lead a whole department.

Hiring Criteria Notes: Although Indian applicants are preferred, we are hiring for this position internationally. You must be willing to live in Andhra Pradesh, India for at least 3 months out of the year and work on a time zone compatible with India Standard Time for most of the rest of the year (i.e. you can work from anywhere but the Americas).

About the Organisation

Fish Welfare Initiative (FWI) is a startup organization whose mission is to improve the welfare of fish as much as possible. We focus specifically on farmed fish, i.e., fish raised in aquaculture. We collaborate with corporations, governments, and producers to improve fish welfare standards and practices.
