2023 YEAR IN REVIEW
Empowering Individuals To Make a Change
for Animals
At AAC, we believe in the power of long-term change, and our positive impact often unfolds gradually as individuals take time to transition into new roles and discover opportunities months after engaging with our services.
With this in mind, we are excited to present our impact report for 2023. It highlights the amazing achievements made possible by your support, our users, and our donors. See the positive change we've created for the advocacy movement below!

We've worked hard to accomplish these results through various
INITIATIVES:
Grew our Audience on various platforms
We have a community of 27,500 people in our LinkedIn, Instagram, Slack, and email newsletter subscribers who are engaged in learning more about how they can help animals with their careers.
Career changes through our programmes
We have helped over 100 people change careers. (This is all-time data since AAC started)
A more detailed breakdown of these changes and AAC's extent of influence is here.
Improved tracking of our programmes
Thousands more have used our services.
Annually, we have 30,000 job board users, 3,800+ enrolled in our online course, and 300+ receive career advice.
A dual strategy for impact
We are focussing on this now:-
1. Supporting non-profits directly through placements, increasing career awareness and encouraging 10% donations.
2. Encourage mission-aligned talent to gain experience and secure influential roles outside the movement.
Please note this is a preliminary review. Treat this as an imperfect, internal analysis that we share publicly for transparency and in case it’s useful for others. We will continue to improve our analysis over time; however, feedback on where we can improve is very welcome. Additionally, due to the lag results from most of our programmes, we expect a more complete picture of our impact for 2023 will be available between Dec 2024 - June 2025.
Stories of Impactful Placements in 2023
Some of the Placements We Made Possible
Feeling eager to transition to a high-impact animal advocacy role but not knowing which direction to take, Becca decided to take AAC's online course. The course was key in defining her focus on farmed animals and helping her hone in on leadership roles.
Empowered by newfound knowledge, Becca used AAC's job board to discover her role as Leadership Program Manager at New Roots Institute.
“The course helped me quite a lot in deciding to go into farmed animal welfare specifically. "
Becca Rogers
Leadership Program Manager at New Roots Institute
Taylor Waters is an animal law attorney and Supervising Attorney and director who is currently establishing the Animal Law Center at Cleveland State University College of Law in the United States.
Transitioning from a legal career to animal advocacy was a journey of self-discovery and growth. After feeling unfulfilled in her previous role, she turned to Animal Advocacy Careers for guidance. Through the job board, she found a position at Animal and Vegan Advocacy International (AVA) that aligned perfectly with her skills and passions.
The Animal Welfare League in Ghana, founded by Jacob Ayang, initially aimed to shelter dogs. Then came a pivotal moment—connecting with AAC's online course.
With no prior knowledge, they embraced the course. The outcome? A transformative shift. They redirected efforts from sheltering to farmed animal advocacy, capitalizing on corporate campaigns and farmer workshops. AAC's course empowered a strategic shift towards greater impact.

The Past & Future of Our Programmes
Job Board
Expanding our reach
Our job board serves as a great landing page to attract people to all our other programmes. It continues to be one of the most cost-effective programmes to date, influencing over 19 people to change careers with a multiplier of $19.8 of value-added vs. $1 spent.
After user research, we plan on enhancing usability, aiming for complete automation, and expanding job opportunities in adjacent sectors and LMICs. We're also exploring AI matchmaking possibilities.
Career advising
Renewed Approach
In 2023, we invested some time refining our career advising service to reduce the time spent on it while trying to maintain the majority of its impact and have a more refined application process.
Thus, going forward, we are exploring ways to automate processes and make the application more publicly available with the goal of having 100 calls completed!
Top Candidate Database
Merger upcoming
We have a merger planned with the High Impact Professionals interface. This approach maintains the benefits of centralising and redistributing talent without the overheads.
Additionally, we will launch an inclusive candidate database where people can sign up for job opportunities and receive guidance through our services.
Online Course
Revamping and combined with other programmes
The online course continues to successfully encourage more people to change careers and nudge them to focus on the highest impact areas in animal advocacy with their donations, volunteering and careers.
Key changes, such as the 10% pledge, will enable it to have a broader influence and encourage more people to prioritise farmed advocacy in their work and consider it a genuine career path.
Giving for Animals
In partnership with Giving What We Can in November 2023, AAC launched a new programme called Giving for Animals.
"Giving for Animals" programme was developed to provide an avenue for individuals to contribute significantly to the talent bottlenecks in animal advocacy without having to leave their current jobs. This approach was inspired by user feedback and the success of our online course pledges.
It is set to be one of the most cost-effective programmes ever! Before launch, we influenced three 10% pledges through our online course(which is included in the 21 pledge numbers above). For 2024, we aimed for 10 pledges as an early cut-off point for the Giving for Animals campaign, which we successfully achieved, getting 2 more 10% pledges and 8 trial pledges. Since then, we have influenced 6 additional 10% pledges with little effort.
What's next for AAC?
As always, we will continue to evaluate our programmes to see which add the most value and promise to always focus on the ones that are most likely to drive change.

TESTIMONIALS by our users
AAC's career coaching came at the perfect moment in my life. I had just sold my business and was ready and eager for a career that contributed to animals. AAC helped me identify how I can use my skills to make the biggest impact -- resulting in the strategy behind the nonprofit I cofounded called Scarlet Spark.
When there are so many options, it's all too easy to do nothing. AAC shines a light through the darkness, helping people find their way into making the biggest difference they can.

It has been more than three months since I started working at an animal advocacy organisation Animal Enterprise Transparency Project (AETP), and I must say, the past few months have been quite mind-blowing and I am very grateful I can be a part of the community of animal advocates.
This transition was facilitated by the Animal Advocacy Careers, which I highly recommend. It has given me a great perspective on the different ways you can contribute to shaping a better future for animals.
- Jasmina Filipič
I cannot really say how much I donate, I would say something between 500-1000 EUR/year.
Based on what I learned in the AAC online course I changed my donation routines a bit.
This means I think more about the impact before I donate. I donate to organisations of which I think they can have a huge impact.
It's fantastic to see that Animal Advocacy Careers is taking steps to ensure that every candidate has a positive experience, regardless of whether they get the job or not.
I really appreciate the efforts made by AAC to support the animal advocacy movement in such a humane and thoughtful way. I will definitely keep these resources in mind for our hiring process and share them with our team as well.
